University of St Andrews
School of Medicine
St Andrews University School of Medicine in St Andrews, Fife, has a rich history of training and research that dates back almost 600 years, with a current specialisation in cancer studies. Proud of its long history, the University was nonetheless conscious of the need to accommodate and master new technologies and techniques, and recently began to relocate several of its faculties to purpose-built premises; among them the School of Medicine building, completed in early 2010.
To complement its new surroundings, the University began the search for AV systems that would not only be robust, forward looking and capable of enhancing the learning experience, but that would also be easily integrated into pre-existing systems. St Andrews quickly realised that the Anders + Kern (A+K) Brands of Distinction portfolio offered everything it needed.
The University’s teaching and research requirements demanded equipment that could be used in a range of scenarios, such as its simulated hospital wards. A+K’s combination of PolyVision eno interactive whiteboard products and short throw projectors was their chosen solution, combining durability with ease of use and integration with existing systems.
It isn’t difficult to understand the appeal of PolyVision’s eno interactive whiteboards. Cord and wire free, making for safer, less cluttered classrooms and meeting rooms, they allow users to make notes, draw diagrams and illustrate lessons and presentations by writing directly on the whiteboard with a regular dry-erase marker, or using the interactive stylus.
The IT staff of St. Andrews and their contracted installer collaborated with A+K to ensure the smooth integration of the new technology with the pre-existing PC support structure. Staff at the University have declared the project a resounding success, with the new equipment winning praise for its versatility and ease of use.
